Here’s Deirdre, the Dog Lover

Well, hmm, not literally I guess but I think everyone knows that Deirdre O’Dare is a big dog person. Some of you may have read at least one or two of my ongoing Canine Cupids stories–there are eight so far and one that was not included but could have been, about a Dalmatian pup and some fire fighters…  They are all stand alone stories, gay romances in which the heroes’ dog or dogs plays a role in getting the guys hooked up. The eight are available in two print anthologies and they can all be purchased as ebooks individually. www.amberquill.com/AmberAllure/bio_ODare is where you can find them.

So for today I have a couple of prizes in mind–a signed copy of Canine Cupids 1 or 2–winner’s choice,  and a dog or cat themed charm bracelet. I make jewelry as a hobby and have a dog one myself plus a purse/cell phone dangle or two that I have made and use all the time.  They make a statement! If you want one just  comment on some of my posts today and get your name in the hat.

CVR-NelliesRogueStallionI’ve also got an ongoing series about a clan or family of horse shifters, begun with Nellie’s Rogue Stallion and continued with Collette’s Savage Stallion.  It’s taking longer than I expected but I am working on a prequel, set far back in prehistory, when a young woman of the Scythian people of the Asian steppes saves a mare and foal from wolves and is given the shifter power by the horse goddess, Epona. I’ll get it done eventually–in fits and starts as I do other tales for my main publisher, Amber Quill. It’s going to be at least extended novella length so takes a bit more time to write. So many stories, so little time!! And then there is my small effort into dragon lore with The Farm Girl’s Dragon about a shifter prince who stumbles onto his family’s legendary power in desperation.  Yep, I write just about all over the place. So far all my shifter stories are hetero romance but my (contemporary) doggie ones are gay.  i’ll try to give you a sample from each type today.CVR-DoggoneLove

Meanwhile, what do you think is the romance of shifters? These stories have gotten to be hugely popular. I love Eileen Wilks Lupi series and enjoy a number of the dragon tales. For me it is the fantasy and the exotic, I think. I really do like animals of many kinds and the idea of a human who can switch at will to another species is very intriguing.  And check out Sabrina Garie’s pieces about shifters and the lore she has come up with–wow.
