I have several. I’ve already mentioned reading. I find when I’m down, escaping into a different time period or even another world makes my world look a little better. It’s a must do and I’ve found that having an ereader makes it even easier!
Another must do survival trick for me is exercise. Since I sit at a computer so much, I have to get up and move. I love long walks, tennis, swimming. When I’m home, I love to garden and cleaning house gets me up and going. After a long day at the computer, even the gym seems like a great break. But I find that I do best with some sort of class. I need someone to hold me accountable and keep me at it!
One thing lots of women forget to do is to drink plenty of fluids. Did you know feeling tired can be a symptom of dehydration? When I hit the doldrums at 3 or 4 in the afternoon, instead of grabbing a snack, (my old habit!) I drink a bottle of water or down a healthy energy drink. I buy one that’s super low on caffeine, high on B vitamins and contains no sugar!
Since I’m a Christian, meditative prayer is a key component of my day. It keeps me focused and at peace.
I told you that I love to escape into other worlds and time periods so I’m pretty sure you’ve figured out my favorite books are historicals. I love exploring different places and even different time periods. Tender Touch is set in 1860’s California. I’m working on another book set in California after the Civil War called Tender Trust.
I do love a good contemporary book too, but my favorite is long historical. How about you? What do you prefer? Contemporary or historical? Long or short? Cowboys, secret babies or second chance at love? Let’s do a mini poll on favorite kinds of stories!
