What is it about a man in uniform that makes so many women (myself included) swoon? There’s something incredibly sexy and raw about a man who is willing to lay everything on the line to protect others. In a romance, is there anything more heroic than the big, strong guy who comes to the heroine’s rescue?

I’m a big fan of heroines who are capable of saving themselves, but it’s always nice to know there’s a muscle-bound hunk willing to take the lead. Maybe that’s why a large number — probably more than half of all my published romances feature a man in uniform. Oh, yeah — I might be a little prejudice. You see, I married a man who wears a law enforcement uniform. That definitely added to the initial attraction. In fact, it still revs my motor to see him in in his uniform, looking all heroic.

When I look through my ginormous collection of romance novels, I see I am not alone in my passion for all sorts of uniformed heroes. They can be military, law enforcement, firemen or a host of other fields — they are all represented in my collection.

The hero of Protective Custody, my brand new release from Carina Press, Will is a former cop who left the force after he accidentally shot an unarmed man. He’s a PI now, but he’s just as heroic in civilian clothes as he was when he carried a badge.

What about you? Do men in uniform turn you on? Is there any particular species that spikes your temperature faster? Since my guy is in law enforcement, that’s the one that does it for me more than any other. Hmm. I wonder which came first – my love of law enforcement guys or my love of DH??
