When I contemplated writing my Just Desserts series, I planned four books. All the books in my earlier series Calusa Town Tales are set in the same small town. The Desserts books aren’t. What they have in common is that each features some sort of sweet treat. Cannoli Canoodling was supposed to be a very short story, but somehow it got out of hand. The first in the series Confection Connection is set around Valentine’s Day and, of course, features chocolate. The second, Ice Cream Idyll, is a summer time story set in a beach town. The third is Pi a la Love and includes a veteran as a tribute to my late husband. The fourth is Christmas Cookie Courtship.
Cannoli Canoodling is loosely based on reality. I was in the drama club in high school and had a crush on one of my fellow actors. My drama coach did give me a second chance, but the rest of the story is fictional.
I definitely have a sweet tooth, so basing a series on desserts is not much of a stretch. I haven’t written a book about my favorite dessert. My mother and father had a garden behind their house and grew zucchini. And when I say zucchini, I don’t mean the wimpy kind you see in the grocery that resembles a cucumber. Their zucchini more closely resembled a baseball bat. This created a problem. What do you do with a plentiful supply of oversize zucchini? The expected answer was make zucchini bread; however, my mother discovered a different recipe. She made chocolate zucchini cake. Instead of shredding the zucchini, the recipe called for the zucchini to be cut into small dice. The recipe also included cocoa powder and chocolate chips. The zucchini made it very moist. I have never seen this recipe anywhere else.
I’m not planning another Dessert book, but you never know.

My latest book is the unplanned fifth book in my Just Desserts series.
Her dream came true, but her ingenue days are behind her
Thanks to her high school drama coach, Mandy Brockett made it on Broadway. When she comes home for her mentor’s funeral, she reconnects with her teenage crush.
Lucas Aber is a widowed dad with a starstruck son. He’s ready to move on, but he’s not interested in a long distance romance.
Is it time for a new dream?
