Tender Touch

Good Morning!
My name is Tanya Stowe. This is my first time on Coffee Thoughts Blog and I’m so glad to be here! In November of last year, my first Inspirational western romance called Tender Touch was released by White Rose Publishing. Since that time, my life has taken an unexpected twist. Not just because of the book release, (I also have a time-travel romance published) but because my husband retired from his civil service job and took another position. His company sent us to the East Coast to train for a new job. When my husband finishes his training, we will move to the Middle East for two years. Talk about culture shock! It’s going to be an exciting adventure.

One of the benefits of this change is that I meet many people. Recently, I met a young woman from another country who lives and works here. She misses her family and when I asked her if her relatives come to visit, she said not much. They don’t like coming here because things are so rushed and everyone is always working!

Having just returned from a whirlwind visit with my children and 18 grandchildren, I couldn’t help but agree! I don’t know how I found the time to write when I was living at home. And even now, between maintaining a house long distance, doing the business end of writing and life, I’m struggling.

The point is that even though my circumstances may be slightly unusual, I AM NOT ALONE! I don’t know a woman who’s not juggling career, family and commitments. One thing I’ve learned during this great change is that quality of life is very important. We need to take the time to slow down and enjoy.

I slow down by reading. My summer reading list is growing by the minute and probably will cross over into the fall. There are so many great books coming out from White Rose Press, it may even extend to Christmas!

I hope you’ll add my book, Tender Touch, to your list. It’s the story of a young woman living in the 1860’s California Sierras. Lacy has an unusual problem. She’s a hands-on-healer. Everyone, including Royce Darnell, calls it a gift from God but Lacy considers it a curse that’s destroying her life.

In the meantime, I’d love to hear from you! How do you slow down? Is there a formula or a magic key that makes your hectic life manageable? Take some time and please share your survival tricks with us! By the way, if you comment, I’ll add your name to a drawing for a free ecopy of Tender Touch.

Hey, Tanya. Great post. I enjoy swinging on my front porch for a few minutes in the morning, communing with God and thanking Him for my blessings. In winter months I do the same, but in front of the fireplace. Walks in the park. And regular weekend getaways to a cabin in the mountains. Helps recharge a soul!

Don’t enter me in the drawing. I’m reading TENDER TOUCH now and I LOVE it!! What a sweet romance!

No magic pills? I guess I’m not surprised.

Fireplaces and walks in the part are the best. But a mountain getaway! How special is that. Lucky you, Dora!

Oh my goodness what an adventure you’re headed for! My father just passed away, so, time management as I cope with home life, work life, and writing deadlines, etc. is an extreme challenge. When I need to slow down (which is often at the moment) I simply go somewhere where I can be alone for a few minutes, close my eyes, and go still–I pray in earnest, and it does me such good. God bless, Tanya – and, I, too have read Tender Touch and loved it to bits – highly recommend – the winner will be very happy!!!

I wish there were a magic pill to make time management a breeze! 😀 I’m fortunate to be able to write “full time,” but who am I kidding? There’s still housekeeping, and all the thousand and one other things that crowd a person’s life. My husband is the cook in our family, and believe me, I DO count that blessing every day! It keeps me at my keyboard much more than would be possible otherwise.
Tanya, I am starting Tender Touch TODAY, and I’m so excited. It sounds absolutely amazing!

Marianne, you are in my prayers! And thanks so much for stopping by when you are having such a difficult time!

Delia, how lucky are you! Hubby does the cooking. I have a son who whips up wonderful stuff and I’m happy to be his ‘sous’ chef and dishwasher! I hope you enjoy Tender Touch as much as I’m enjoying Kylie’s Kiss. Kylie is adorable!

Hi Tanya, great post today and I’ve got Tender touch on the TBR list. When I can find the time Grrrrr. I got to retire quite early from teaching, and my kids are grown and married. But I’m always playing catch up. And not getting very far.

I’m trying to get better about searching the Scriptures when I’m needy. There’s something going on right now that needs help LOL. Fortunately not my family, they’re the best. And I’ve got an inground spa in the backyard that can help me unwind.

    Love and best wishes…
