Finn Sullivan suffered the tragic loss of her sister and has moved across the country just in time to start college. She is ready to make a new start.
Jack Fata is a member of a very powerful and strange family. He is charismatic, selfish, and enigmatic.
Shortly after the death of her sister by suicide, Finn’s father moves the two of them from San Francisco to his small hometown in upstate New York. The town is an odd place, filled with the very wealthy, the famous, and average people like Finn and her father. She quickly makes two good friends and the acquaintance of the fascinating Jack Fata. She fast becomes obsessed with him and his family–a dangerous obsession, it turns out.
I found this modern retelling of Tam Lin difficult to put down. The author does a great job of modernizing and expanding the old ballad so it appeals to the targeted audience. Finn and her friends are very realistic college students with all of the trials and tribulations time brings with the addition of supernatural beings who love to play with the mortals at their disposal. This novel should appeal to all fans of fantasy, and Ms. Harbour is an author with a bright future ahead of her.
