Minneapolis, MN, was the setting for Chance Meeting. The novel begins in spring and is noted not by date but by smelling the lilac blooms and seeing a red-breasted robin.
In northern states, one of the first birds to migrate back north is the robin, also known as the red-breasted or American robin, and in the southern states, they call the bird Northern Robin. A few wives’ tales include the saying, “When robins appear, loved ones are near.” Something about birds building nests and singing to attract mates and purple crocus, white snowdrops, yellow daffodils, and red, yellow, and orange tulips busting through once-frozen dirt makes me believe anything is possible.
But I’m not the only one associating spring with romance, flowers, and love. According to “The Wedding Report,” May is the most popular month for weddings.
Chance Meeting is a clean and wholesome novel with all the ingredients: spring, baseball, romance, and happily ever after.
Melody is fostering her niece while her sister, Captain Opal Erickson, is deployed to Kuwait. A chance meeting at work with Clayton, a construction manager, awakens feelings of love and romance. Everything is perfect until Opal reveals a family truth and swears Melody to secrecy. When the dust settles, Mel wonders if she can put the pieces of her life back together.
Why I write: Eighteen years ago, while living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I published children’s stories, creative non-fiction, poetry, and flash fiction. At the same time, I waited for the flowers to push through the last bit of snow in my garden. Then I stumbled into romance, writing several short stories and a novel with The Wild Rose Press.
I write clean and wholesome romance because I love happily ever after. After enduring fifty-five Minnesota winters, I found love and embarked on a life of adventure. For over nine years, I’ve been living the dream, volunteering at incredible places like Bonneville Lock and Dam in Oregon, Wallowa Lakes State Park, Black Hawk Campground in De Soto, WI, Okefenokee Swamp NWR in Folkston, Ga, and J.N. Ding Darling NWR in Sanibel, Fl.
Now, we live in a stick-and-brick (apartment) in Wilmington, NC, and I am back to writing about romance and love.
