Zoe Tempest loses her parents, then receives instructions from her uncle to arrive at his home at dusk. She does not even have time to bury her parents.

Julian Kilmer is said to be independently wealthy. He tells Zoe the reason he goes out at night is since he makes his writing on the paranormal, most of the phenomena happens at nighttime.

Zoe does not understand when Uncle Julian goes out at night he leaves her certain instructions. He may be different, but he is certainly European and makes her feel welcome. Julian tells Zoe to trust no one. He wants to protect her, but wonders if she has what it takes to become a vampire hunter. Zoe becomes more interested when she cannot go out at night, and especially about the Island. After her uncle goes out and she happens to see a boy materialize out of the blue, Zoe becomes very uneasy. She has to learn about the boy. She will have to confide, to her uncle, if she wishes to learn the makings of a vampire hunter to lead her to the killers of her parents, and the mysterious boy.

Let me say I enjoyed Vampire Island. I like Zoe; she has this kick attitude that makes her stand out. She is bright, witty, slightly cautious, yet her young mind is still engineered to think out of that guarded state at times. Vampire Island engages while pulling the reader deeper into every aspect of the moving read. Ms. Cox delivers a gusto tale with a multi-cast of characters that any reader will enjoy. The fantasy, mixed in with the paranormal, provides action, a super uncle who makes the story flow even better, and Zoe who does not miss a beat in this pleasurable read.
