Arabella Stone, daughter of a Nashville music producing legend, has been in love with country music star Charlie Tucker since she was an awkward pre-teen. She may have grown up some since she last saw him, but she has not grown any less awkward. Now in her twenties, Arabella is determined to cross a few items off her “bad girl” bucket list, and landing a one-night-stand with Charlie Tucker is tops on it.
Little does Arabella know that Charlie has been tasked by her father to look out for his darling little girl over the summer. She has landed herself a job at an independent recording studio in New Orleans without Daddy’s help (or so she thinks), and if Charlie wants funding for his new foundation, which purpose is to help teens with depression, he had better do as he is told. And seducing the boss’s daughter is definitely not on the to-do list.
In the quintessentially awkward way that, on Arabella Stone, is utterly charming, Charlie finds himself not only falling prey to her attempts to woo him, but actually falling for her. And Arabella begins to see that there is so much more to Charlie than just women and touring and music. But can their budding friendship and growing love survive the truth: that Arabella did not get the job on her own, and that Charlie knew all along?
The familiar (and oft cliched) theme of bad boy seduces good girl gets a refreshing twist in this cute romance. I absolutely loved that Arabella is determined to cross items off her bucket list that are completely out of her comfort zone, and that Charlie has to do everything he can to resist her awkward and lovable charm. The storyline completely flipped the common set-up on its head. I loved these two together, and was engaged through the entire book. Well done, Ms. Harris!
