Tory Richards

Tory Richards is an Amazon bestselling author of erotic romance and romantic suspense novels.  The hott covers barely skim the top of what’s within the books. She also has a biker series! Beards, tattoos and all. You might need an icepack to cool you down while you read the stories. Enjoy!

Do you have a set goal in mind for the number of books you will write?

No, I have slowed down considerably with my writing, though I have three projects in mind for the future. I’ll always write, but I may not always publish.

I see on your current tale that you’ve chosen a lumberjack with attitude. He’s full bearded and has a partially shaved head and yet still handsome. Did you choose the model?

I knew exactly what I was looking for and carefully reviewed many pictures before concluding he met my criteria. The cover itself was designed by Central Covers.

Many of your 47 books have handsome, really handsome men with beards. Do you like beards and moustaches?

I hadn’t given it much thought before, but you’re right, I suppose I do have a preference. My second husband had a mustache, and I’ve always been drawn to a more rugged type of man, so some facial hair is definitely appealing.

Your books tend to be naughty and steaming with heat. Do you like that type of character in a real partner?

I have a clear preference: I enjoy reading and writing about a specific type of fantasy hero. He is typically a big, tough, and rugged man, unapologetic about taking what he wants, fiercely protective of his partner, and seemingly fearless.

When you first started out writing what was your first book called and was it as naughty as the rest? Your characters are HOTT.

“Kiss Me,” originally published as “Cupid’s Arrow,” will mark its 20th anniversary in December 2025. The book was my debut novel with Whiskey Creek Press and achieved the notable success of appearing on their bestseller list for two consecutive months. Characterized as the sweetest romance in my collection, it features a steamy relationship between the two main characters that leads to consummation, yet remains a milder read compared to my current works.

Do you have a location you’ve been to in your books or do you make them up?

I draw inspiration from both Maine, my home state, and my current residence in Florida. While the specific names of my plot locations may be fictional, the settings and events are rooted in real-life experiences from both places.

For instance, in my book Out of Control, I incorporated many experiences from the retirement community where I lived during the year we endured four consecutive hurricanes, weaving that challenging period into the fabric of the story.

There are a number of books with motorcycles on the cover. Do you ride?

I’ve been a fan of motorcycle club romances for years, and eventually decided to try writing one myself. My first book in the genre was Wild Marauders – Lynch, and I’ve now written approximately 23 titles in the genre, a genre that continues to be very popular.

With so many characters with tattoos, which is your favorite and do you have some too?

I have a single tattoo, a dragonfly on the inside of my wrist. It was on my bucket list, so my best friend and I got matching ones when we were in our late fifties. It hurt like crazy, but I’m happy I did it. Regarding the tattoos on my book covers, I’d choose Ruthless. I like its simple, clean design.

How do you create your stories, as in: are you a planner or ‘off the cuff’ just writing until it comes out?

I prefer an ’off the cuff’ approach: I usually get the whole story down first, then focus on fleshing it out.

Do you have plans for any more series?  Your covers make it easy to pick out the series. Great covers.

“Thanks! I really want my series to be easily identifiable for readers, so they can tell which books go together. I’m definitely finishing up the Maine Silver Foxes series with books 3 (Lincoln) and 4 (Max). I’m also planning to write more in The Biker Next Door series, but I’m not sure how many yet. Those might be my last series, though, because I’m planning to write my first mafia romance next!”
