My name is Mimi Barbour and I want to sincerely thank you for inviting me to join you on your blogspot. I’m very happy to be here so I can announce that my newest book called “Together Again” has just been released from The Wild Rose Press.
Okay?? After rereading the above
sentence, it dawned on my how very calm and almost boring the phrase is
compared to how I’m really feeling. The ole ticker is beating at double time,
and there’s a gigantic “Yahoo!!‘ forcibly kept under control, hanging in the back
of my throat. Happy doesn’t really cover my excitement, more like a maniacal
kind of joy.

You see when an author has her
first book published it’s an extremely notable time. It elevates her to a
professional level””in her own mind. (At least it did in mine!) But then when
the second book is written, it proves she’s not what they refer to as a
one-book wonder. If a contract for the work also follows, well that’s the
confirmation that she’s now a multi-published author””adds more esteem””if you
get what I mean. Since this book is actually the 4th in my Vicarage
Bench Series you might ask yourself why am I experiencing such a response.
The fact of the matter is that this is my first full-length contracted
manuscript, and for me that constitutes a huge stepping-stone. It proves to me, I can write long as well as short and that’s huge.

“Being it’s a sanctified adult area, all kids want to know what goes on here. Some of
my mates got phoney cards and have tried to get in, but they were I.D.ed and

Erupting giggles tickled him. He lowered his head and stared at the beer-foamed glass in his hand so no one could see the silly grin fighting to appear on his face.
Dani, the bane of his existence, made him laugh more than anyone else he’d ever
known. And she was only sixteen years old.

“Whoa! I’ve never met anyone who can play the age game better than you. You’re an adult when it suits you, but reverting back to childhood when you feel the need

“It is.” Her voice strongly emphasised the last word.

MIMI’S WORLD: Getting a new contract is a rush, and
since I’m rather hooked on these highs, within a very short time of finalizing
the edits on Together Again, I started revamping other manuscripts that
have sat around for some time. The work kept me busy for months. Then a few
days after the New Year, Wild Rose put out a statement that said all Christmas
stories for 2011 needed to be in by March 1st.

Great!! Something else to work towards. Thinking in the next two
months I could probably whip up a novella for the series with a holiday theme,
I let the plotting begin. Before I knew it, there I was working at a feverish
pace. I had imagined a wonderful, humorous tale full of Christmassy delights,
one that would follow the same spirit-travel theme as the others in the
Vicarage Bench chain. My imagination built and molded a tale where an
adorable but conniving heroine invades the body of our hero, a cranky but
gorgeous workaholic. He’s recently inherited his widowed mother and has agreed
to move to a town of her choice and open a new accounting office.

I love the holiday season and wanted this tale to be a heart-warming story of
young love finding each other during such a happy time. But I made it very
difficult for them. Between snowstorms, a meddlesome mum, needy babies and an
absent Dr. Andrews, they have their hands full. Makes the reader want them to
have their happy ending all the more.

Best of all, the story worked itself into
a full-length manuscript, and after I sent it away, they in turn sent me a
contract and the “high’ began all over again. This new book is called “Together for Christmas”.

In case you think all I do is write, I have to debunk that idea and tell the truth. Purely as research of course, I read as many as two to three romance-type books a week. In the last while, I’ve gotten my pudgy little fingers grimy with soil as I work in my gardens. I do have favourite TV shows like Castle, The Good Wife and American Idol, which I’ve set up on my PVR and watch late at night so I can shut off the annoying voices of my characters before I turn in. Hate lying awake, plotting
all night. And it’s happened more than once, trust me.

I also love networking with other authors and so plan to attend
the Write-On Vancouver Conference happening on May 13th & 14th
