Jennet Greenway is an English teacher and Collie lover. She and her five Collies live with her husband, local deputy sheriff Crane

Brent Fowler is a wealthy resident of Foxglove Corners. He is a Collie lover and generous to Collie rescue.

Brent Fowler has bought an old Victorian house in need of extensive repairs. He intends for it to be a home for elderly and hard to place Collies in need of a home. Jennet is very active in Collie rescue and a friend of Brent’s. She visits the proposed shelter and finds that a Collie is already in residence; the ghost of a tri-colored male dog appears in the property’s pond. Jennet and her friends are determined to find out who he belonged to and why he haunts the pond.

This is a nice, easy to read, cozy mystery. Unfortunately, when a series is this long running, it is hard to get to know the characters. I felt that the author assumed that the reader is already familiar with Jennet and her friends, leaving character development to the previous books. The mystery was interesting, and as a dog lover, the Collies made the book even more enjoyable. It would be even better if I had read some of the previous books.
