So when I was small and someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I never answered, "An author." Honestly, I didn't know there even was someone behind the books. I just thought that there was a book fairy that "poofed" the words to the page. Boy, was I wrong.
In junior high and high school I was kind of the English go-to-girl. I was even published at 13–poetry, because I used to be a girlie girl. But, at 18 a man sweeped me off my feet and whisked me away to his castle.
Then we bred and our offspring absorbed everything in our lives. It wasn't until May of 2008 that I delved back into writing. After my first ten pages and after reading, oh I don't know, 25 How-To Books, I realized that I needed to slow down. I wasn't ready to write, but I was ready to learn. So, that's exactly what I did!
I studied, read, read, and read some more. The one thing that caught me more often than not was this phrase: Find your voice.
Voice?
What does voice have to do with writing: Well, let me tell you. If you don't know who you are and how you sound, then how can you ever express anything? How can you ever get across to someone else your words? Your storytelling?
And to my point: Here's who I am:
Yes, that's right a Chameleon. I can blend in with the best of them, but you'll never know how terrified I am unless…. you watch for my spazz moments.
I am a web Diva, according to most of my real life friends, but behind the screen I can barely hold a coherrent conversation. Just ask my editor. She'll vouch that it's like talking to a two year old. Anything that can grab my attention will.
I love almost every and any kind of art. I started out this creative life doing pencil sketches of people, and then I needed a story to go with it.
And if you ask my husband and kids, this is me as soon as the 9-5 job is over: Well, except, I'm a woman and no, I don't lay down at my desk unless I'm in tears. And that usually only happens on day one of 1st pass revisions. 🙂
I have an irrational love of horror, And even thought it makes my irregular heartbeat flutter, I'll watch hours of horror movies, late into the night, when the fear can really set in.
And, last but not least, I love romance. Yes, I want to cry, ache, love and laugh with the rest of you!
So, that's me in a nutshell. I thought this would be a little more fun than a normal, boring, 250 bio line. So what did you think? Did you learn something about me that you didn't know? If you are new to me, do we share any common interests? I'd love to know. Leave me a comment. I look forward to hearing from you. Oh, and stay tuned for more posts, I have some fun ones coming up and maybe even a give-a-way or two. 🙂
