Welcome to Coffee Time Romance, today we are chatting with Sara Fizgerald about her book Just What the Doctor Ordered, and a little about herself. Coffee Time Romance wants to extend a warm welcome to Ms. Fitzgerald. Welcome Sara, I would like to take this time to thank you for granting Coffee Time Romance this interview. I read your first book, Mine for Keeps and was able to read Just What the Doctor Ordered. Wow, you indeed are an incredible author. Your flare for writing is remarkable and keeps the readers interest.
Why don’t you tell us something about Just What the Doctor Ordered?
Just What the Doctor Ordered is a short contemporary novel in which Elizabeth Lane is trying to finish up her last semester of school so she can move back to her small hometown and open a medical practice under the supervision of a doctor. She has no idea that in order to make her dream come true she’ll have to work for the, oh so sexy cranky doctor, Dr. Miller. Dr. Miller always plays by the rules and one of the clinic’s rules is no romantic relationship between personal. However, the moment he meets Elizabeth he can’t help but think about breaking the rules.
The dialogue in this story really captivates with Elizabeth and Jess and flows fabulously. All the characters are well-rounded and spark interest in every flip of the page. Can I ask where the idea came for the story?
I got the idea from working in the medical field as a medical assistant and working with oh so cranky doctors.
Sara, I heard you have some exciting news to tell us about a new addition to your family. Please share this blessed event with your readers. And it is exactly Just What the Doctor Ordered. And congratulations on Savanna Ann and your new book release.
My husband and I have been married for fourteen years this month. We have always wanted children, but until now never got our wish come true. We are now expecting our first child in October, Savanna Ann. We are so thrilled and excited. It’s our very own miracle. I feel so blessed.
Did you know about Savanna Ann before you started this book?
No:) My mom says I got so focus on my writing career that I finally relaxed so I was able to get pregnant.
What does the future look like for Sara and other works in progress?
I have two additional books coming out in 2007. Anything for Charity June 2007 and Yesterday’s Wish October 2007. Right now I’m finishing writing Yesterday’s Wish. Then I have a few other projects in mind.
Do you outline your stories or do you just write as you go?
I do a little of both. I have a pretty good idea where the story is going to go before I start writing and I always try to plot a few scenes ahead of time. But sometimes my characters have minds of their own.
When you are not busy composing, what do you do in your spare time?
I just finished this past month getting my Master’s degree in social work so that took a lot of time. I also teach Creative Writing classes through a local high school continuing education program. And this past month I have been so busy getting ready for the baby 🙂 Getting her room ready, having my baby’s shower and lots of baby shopping. I also love to have lunch with friends and I always love seeing a good movie.
Do you think the publishing industry is rapidly growing at this time, or between a happy medium, so to speak?
Yes. It is so exciting.
Suppose you could plan a weekend to get away, where would you go, and would you take anyone with you?
I would love to go to a mountain resort with my husband. Somewhere beautiful with fun little shops and great restaurants. Of course we would both get massage and soak in the hot tub. I have a feeling that with Baby Savanna, that won’t be happening anytime soon 🙂
Would you like to share anything else with us?
Dreams do come true. I finally feel like I’m getting my happy ending 🙂 And that anything is possible. I wish your readers nothing but wonderful things. Thanks so much for this interview it has been a pleasure talking with you.
