Happy Holidays and WELCOME! Today we have Mary Eason talking with us. Ms. Eason will be talking about Ten Thousand Angels, an inspirational romance and share some of her other works.
Could you please tell us about your book, Ten Thousand Angels?
Thank you for the warm welcome. Yes, I would be happy to share something about Ten Thousand Angels.
To me, this book is all about second chances. Ten Thousand Angels deals with two people who have been hurt very deeply by people they have loved. Kate Alexander finds herself alone and pregnant with no one to turn to except a man who is fighting demons of his own. Matt Stevens is genius when it comes to creating the best security software programs around, but his personal life is a wreck. Three year ago, he walked away from life and all the things that mattered to him after his son’s death. Together, Matt and Kate learn both trust and to love again.
Who was your favorite character in this book and why?
While I love my heroine Kate, Matt Stevens is my favorite simply because he is the most flawed. Matt has become a bitter man after his son’s death. I love watching Matt let go of that bitterness and fall in love with Kate.
What is your favorite genre to read and write?
I’ve always loved inspirational romances because of their ability to show us the power of God. But I am a big fan of Chick Lit and Romantic Suspense as well and I have several of both genres in the works.
Is there one person that influenced you to write either a teacher, author, or relative?
Hum, I’d say it would be my husband. He never lets me give up on my dream.
What are things, other than writing, that you enjoy?
I love reading of course. My husband and I love riding our Harley. And I’m starting to relearn the piano. I played for years and years when I was younger. Now I’m coming back to it again. I am also a huge fan of bloging. My husband and I love to travel as well.
How do you feel when you’ve finished a book and sent it off? Do you miss your characters?
Yes, I do miss them. They’ve been part of my daily life for weeks so it’s like saying goodbye. But it’s a love/hate relationship as well. I’m usually getting a little sick of them by the time they decide to leave my house.
When did you decide to be a writer, or was it always something you wanted to do?
I’ve wanted to be a writer forever. Even before, I realized it. I wrote my first book as a pre-teen. But it was something I put aside to do such things as, well earn a living. A few years back I couldn’t ignore my muse any longer. It’s become part of my daily life now. I can’t not write something every day.
Do you have any advice for writers that are just starting out?
Yes! Buck up! Get strong! This is a tough business on the good days. It will bring youto your knees if you’re not strong. But if you stay with it and don’t let those nasty little rejection letters get the best of you, it can be one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do. And if just one person loves your work, it’s a great feeling!
When you begin to write, is it the characters or the plot that comes to you first?
I’d say it’s the characters but only by a little. They pop into my head under the strangestof circumstances. Then they take over and direct the plot. Sometimes it’s close to the way I envisioned the story going, and sometimes it’s nothing like I originally had planned for them.
What is one of the strangest things that’s happened to you since you’ve become a writer?
I’d have to say a very odd run in with a very flaky agent. Nuf said!
