My friends and I recently started a book club – though why it's called that when we don't actually read the books is beyond me. I'm sure it has NOTHING to do with the fact that we always include food and liquor when we get together. We started with "The Outsiders" and have evolved to "Water for Elephants". We need books that have morphed into movies, because while we're stuffing our faces – we always watch the film and talk about the book. Have I read any of them yet? No! Terrible – I know, but there just doesn't seem to be time to read. I hate leaving them in the washroom for too long – a woman can only stay in there for short periods of time. LOL
What are some of your favorite books? Perhaps some that have been turned into movies – or maybe one that is going to be a movie. I am sitting here right now watching "Mamma Mia" for the hundredth time I'm sure. It's the type of movie you can have playing in the background without actually watching it. I've seen it so many times I can recite it – and I only glance at the screen the odd time. I love the music!
My husband and I went to see the final Harry Potter last weekend. Have any of you seen it? What did you think? I am ashamed to say I never read any of them either! The lazy way out, I"m afraid – watching the film. However, my son read the books and he did not enjoy the movie. He said he was very disappointed with it. I didn't read the book and I rather enjoyed the movie. Perhaps therein lies the problem. The book is ALWAYS better! I've never read a book and watched the move and loved it more. I don't think you can capture the emotions from a book into a movie. And it's impossible to put every action/dialogue from the book to the screen.
I'm annoyed at the fact that all kids movies have to come out in 3D. I hate those stupid glasses – they hurt my nose and I find they irritate me to the point where I pull them off and watch the blurry screen. What is the point? And now there is 4D coming out? What next? Perhaps I'm just behind the times, but what happened to just enjoying a movie and not worrying about how clear the picture is or how loud the fighting scenes?
I think it's the cloudy weather that's getting to me. I suppose it's time to hit the hay!! I hope you all have a great rest of your week. Take care and see you in September!
