Otherworldly:

In this session, we’ll meet around a ‘pool’ of words, teeming with unseen beings. Perhaps we think of these as ‘hauntings’ – but these apparitions are not (necessarily) frightening.

We’ll explore worlds-within-worlds and everyday alternative dimensions – the water boatman’s deadly cruising, the tadpoles’ fabulous metamorphosis – infused with nature’s inherent queerness.

Inspired by the tiniest forms of life and the largest, we’ll look at watery poems and those which play with scale to manifest otherworldly vibes. We’ll create individual and group poems which celebrate pondlife, buglife, and the wonderful terrestrial aliens we live alongside.

Biog:

Caleb Parkin, Bristol City Poet 2020 – 22, has poems in numerous journals and anthologies, with extensive tutoring and facilitation experience. He’s published three pamphlets and a collection, ‘This Fruiting Body (Nine Arches, longlisted Laurel Prize). He holds an MSc Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes and is currently practice-as-research PhD candidate at University of Exeter, as part of RENEW Biodiversity.
