Extra Special Collections Sunday for Bristol 650
October 29, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm GMT
As the city celebrates 650 years since the granting of its county status, Bristol Archives and Bristol Central Library have teamed up to shed some light on some of our most beautiful and precious medieval illuminated manuscripts.
Join us for this Extra Special Collections Sunday where you will have the opportunity to view a selection of medieval manuscripts from our collections, including Isabella Ruddock-Clyve’s Book of Hours. Alongside these wonderful manuscripts will be the original 1373 Charter, courtesy of Bristol Archives, who will be joining us on this very special Sunday. Also joining us on the day will be Dr Kathleen Kennedy, one of the world’s leading experts in fifteenth- and early sixteenth-century English book decoration.
Join us in the Bristol Room on Sunday 29 October anytime between 1-4pm. This is an open event, no booking required. Please be aware that the capacity of the Bristol Room is limited and you may have to wait if there is a high demand. We are keen to make this event open to all interested whilst ensuring the safety of our visitors and the collections.
