I am an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy as well as romance. I’m bad on titles for books I read long ago–hey, who can keep track of about a million books and authors? I’ve been reading since I was five and that was a l-o-n-g time ago!!
There have been some good movies too from the one about the huge upheaval called 2012 to many more–a true flick based on the tsunami in southesat Asia and some very tense futuristic ones too. I suppose we really do not know how or if the world will end, at least for us. There have been meteor collisions, shifts in the poles and other events that occurred long before our early ancestors began to walk on two feet across the deserts and plains but they could occur again. I’m not too worried though. We have more immediate concerns as well as the smaller scale natural disasters that happen very often.
I’ve experiecned a few minor floods and observed some wild fires closer and more threatening than I enjoyed but have been pretty lucky. While I lived in north central California back in the late 70s and early 80s I felt several smaller earthquakes but they did no damage, at least where I was. But it feels really odd to have the earth shake and twitch and roll beneath you like a horse trying to shrug off a pesky fly! While in Colorado the first time,in the early 70s, we watched a tornado building in a cloud but it jumped over our area and touched down a few miles away, throwing a car over a mobile home, flipping another mobile and demolishing a barn or two. Yikes!
