Susan Stanton was going to the Frost Fair when an unfortunate accident cost her her life for a moment in time. After she was brought back, Susan found it had unforeseen consequences — she could talk to the dead.

Evan Bothwick is furious when he finds evidence of his brother Timothy’s murder. Going back to the crime scene to hunt for clues, Evan is frustrated to find Timothy’s body has disappeared.

Susan cannot explain what it is about Moonseed Manor that has her skin tingling. Maybe it is the larger-than-life giant who is married to her missing cousin. Or, maybe it is the scarecrow of a butler who stares at her as if she is his next meal. Whatever it is, she is determined to quickly find her way home before she suddenly disappears. Evan has other plans as he continues to search for the person responsible for his brother’s murder. Many of the clues point to Susan being involved in some way. Can Evan and Susan figure out who killed Timothy and what happed to Susan’s cousin before it is too late?

Too Sinful to Deny is a good book. The tone set by Ms. Ridley definitely leaves the reader with the impression of constantly watching over your shoulder. I do have to say I found Susan to be lacking in some areas. I did not always understand where the storyline was going and Susan seemed to fluctuate between being a hero and being the damsel-in-distress. But in the end, the story came together nicely and allowed me to better understand what the pages were trying to say throughout the novel.
