Victoria is a woman without a purpose in life. She is in her forties, has no job, no ambition, and her well-ordered life is slowly falling apart.
Amara is a beautiful woman with an empty marriage. She gave up her career for her husband, but they are drifting further and further apart.
Victoria and Amara are two beautiful women leading pointless and empty lives. Victoria is a superannuated sugar-baby, and Amara is a neglected trophy wife. They are both cheating and being cheated on by their partners and fill their empty days with clubbing, shopping, and spa treatments.
This is a well written and readable story despite the largely unlikable characters. Victoria’s view on life is largely influenced by her shallow and materialistic mother, but that is no excuse for a modern woman in her forties to live off of a man with nothing to fall back on. Amara is equally beautiful but rude, jealous, and judgmental in the extreme. The subplots of Sienna and her crossdressing husband and Victoria’s brother and his secret love were equal to the main plot. In conclusion, this is an excellent novel about awful people and their complex lives.
