Lancey Maverick is the last of a long line of independent Maverick women. She made a career for herself as an MP in the Marines, but had to give it up to help raise her orphaned nephew.
Finn Delaney is a top NASCAR driver. He is impetuous and hot tempered and is having difficulty dealing with all of the changes in his life.
Lancey has always been attracted to her best friend’s older brother Finn. She is the total opposite of the hot tempered NASCAR star, but one night at the Last Stand Saloon changes everything.
I really enjoyed this light romance. Finn and Lancey are likable characters with great chemistry. They are both adjusting to loss in their families and huge changes in their careers. It would have been better if Lancey had more concrete career prospects, but the author does a stellar job in describing the main characters’ emotions and struggles. They both face huge life changes and deal with them in very different ways. The Delaney boys are a fascinating bunch who make me want to return to the town of Last Stand very soon.
