Johnny Palmieri grew up in his family home in the Catskills and never wanted to leave. He wants his girlfriend to love his house as much as he does.
Ann Dougherty was always a bit different. As a child, she was taller than the other girls, and was reluctant to make physical contact with anyone. She had no problem touching and showing affection to animals.
Johnny is excited to show his new girlfriend his beloved childhood home. He, Ann, and his five closest friends set out to spend a winter weekend in the big old house in the Catskills. Something evil is waiting up there for them. Ann, a psychic sensitive, feels the evil entity in the house and wants to escape, but a snowstorm traps them all in the haunted house.
This engrossing story had me on the edge of my seat most of the time. The tension slowly builds to an explosive climax, and I would advise you not to read this just before going to sleep. The author has created realistic characters, and the dialogue is witty and flows naturally. I loved the setting of an isolated old house in a winter snowstorm; it really added an additional layer of dread to the story. I have not read a thriller/horror story in quite a while and forgot how these stories get you totally involved in the terror. I highly recommend this one.
