Gin is a heroine who becomes a Justitia warrior in training. Smythe is there to protect her and mentor her, but barely can protect himself from the allure she has. She’s turned on by the mere sight of him, and man, can she immerse herself in his sexuality.
Smythe has a hard time training Gin as she’s a rebel with a cause. His strong mage abilities help her out of some serious issues, except she can’t seem to kill one demon in particular; Zagan. She’s attracted to them both, with Zagan being the proverbial bad boy.
Though Gin and Smythe don’t get together sexually, there is a ton of sexual tension in the tale. Together, they fight demons, and seek to destroy the human minions. The only fly in the ointment is Zagan. Gin begins to learn to be honest with Smythe, as she has secrets to hide that jeopardize her work as a demon huntress.
Karilyn Bently is a wiz with a story. She wraps your brain around the characters until you can’t put the book down. The smart-assed heroine keeps you guessing, as well as gives you a great big dose of humor. I enjoyed the story, loving the Demon most of all, though Smythe is a hotty. I can visualize him, as Gin feels her attraction to him. Written in the first person, Karilyn weaves a tale that will keep you guessing.
