Lauren left her journalist position and the rat race of Los Angeles and moved to work at a university as a photographer. She currently takes photographs for geology professor Randy Anders who is less exciting than the men in LA, but is someone she cares for. On a dig in Arizona her life becomes the stuff of nightmares and she is unsure if any of them will survive.
Baudouin Delacor is a solitary man because of his nature, loup de sang, or bloodwolf, which he inherited when he was marked by an ancient evil. He wanders the earth attempting to find and kill the evil which would release him from his prison of pain and horror.
Lauren is unsure if Randy could ever truly be hers, and the young nubile student Kelly is determined to make him hers. Does Laruen have the strength to help Baudouin Delacor save Randy and banish the evil, or will she run in horror? Delacor knows this is his last chance to rid the world of the evil, even if it means his life, but is he strong enough to win the fight?
There were parts of the storyline which I found confusing, but the story was interesting. The author has a vivid writing style which draws the reader into the story and takes them along for the ride. The characters are well built, and the setting of the story is amazing. In the end I felt left behind in the story between Randy and Lauren because they were lukewarm at best in the beginning but on fire in the end.
