“Duncan, I had no idea you’d be coming.” Eyes ablaze in interest, the young man approached him and raised his voice to overcome the loud background chatter, “How have you been?”
“Fine, I guess and…” The words died in his throat.
There he was. The most beautiful and impossibly gorgeous man of all was coming right at him from across the room, the blue-gray eyes that had tormented his dreams staring straight at him.
In a rush of uncontrollable excitement, his mouth went dry as he melted in liquid fire, the rest of the world fading into nothingness. Unable to tear his gaze away, time returned him to his childhood, at the exact moment he had first laid eyes on his stunning angel. So the flood of long denied emotions was simply too powerful and shattered whatever slight form of control he had achieved in the years without Chris at his side.
By the gods, how could he have been so foolish to think it could ever be over between him and the fiery angel? To believe, even for one second, his heart could have forgotten the one man who had exalted his senses like no one else before or since?
“Hello, lover.” Halting in front of him, the blue-gray gaze ate him up literally. “Missed me?”
“I can’t even begin to tell you how much.” Out of breath, he could not avoid the painful lurch of his cock.
If anything, Chris had grown more splendid and desirable than ever. And his shaft’s sudden erection was proof he hungered only to touch him and make love until he was too exhausted to think straight.
“I knew you would.” Gaze dropping to his groin, Chris’s smug smile of satisfaction was clear indication he had not missed the swift reaction. “Come.” Clasping his hand, he pulled him out of the attic. “Let’s go somewhere more private.” Hurrying to the stairs, he hesitated to search his face. “How about your room?”
“If you can find it,” he joked. “For I certainly can’t.”
“Oh, I’ve got a pretty good guess of where Arthur has placed you.” Spinning around, he flew downward. “On the second floor, right?”
“Right.” Close at his heels, he did not stop to wonder how the angel knew.
He just followed blindly, not surprised to notice many wistful glances in Chris’s direction.
Small wonder!
His blond angel inevitably attracted attention, with some even attempting to detain him in spite of his evident lack of interest. Not that he allowed them. Without even bothering to be polite, he continued his hasty flight through the bewildering intricacy whose sole purpose was to confound his orientation.
But as long as Chris led him, who gave a damn about where he was? Or where he was going for that matter?
His destination was bliss.
Of that, he had no doubts.
So he followed as in a daze, until he reached his room and slammed the world outside.
