April 2018: Writing Software
~ Ruth A. Casie ~
CTR asked:
Which writing software do you use (something other than MS Word, like Jutoh and Scrivener)? What’s your favorite feature(s), and why?
Ruth A. Casie said:
My writing software of choice is Scrivener. I can keep an outline, my text and research all together in one place.
I can’t tell you how often in the past I’ve spent more time re-researching an item. I thought I was clever in putting links on a page and saving them. With Scrivener I include research links with chapters and can easily switch and find what I need.
After doing NaNoWriMo and JerRoWriMo (my New Jersey RWA chapter version of the national writing month) I found tracking work count motivated me. I can easily create word count targets and track them with Scrivener.
I mentioned that I can include my outline in Scrivener. I can do much much more. I create the file for my series and include each book in the series. I can create my series bible, I can create character profiles to keep eye and hair color (and other things) consistent. I can also keep track of my book marketing all in one place.
