Kris Tualla is pursuing her dream of becoming a multi-published author of historical fiction. She started in 2006 with nothing but a nugget of a character in mind and absolutely no idea where to go from there. She has created a dynasty – The Hansen Series! Along with the Hansen series, Kris has also started a new, The Discreet Gentleman, series following the life of a discreet gentleman who is also deaf. Kris is also an active member of Romance Writers of America, Sisters in Crime and the Historical Novel Society. She is an enthusiastic speaker and teacher and created Arizona Dreamin' ~ Arizona's first romance-reader event.

I am absolutely in love with this book. After a long time, I am reading a really, really good romantic mystery with just the right amount of suspense. The setting is in Norway, a first for me, and the hero is deaf, another first for me. The author has written this book flawlessly. The characters leap off the page. They are vibrant, three-dimensional, and are not perfect, i.e. they have insecurities, get angry, unreasonable, and they make mistakes just like the rest of us. How they resolve them and come to terms with themselves is worth reading. The author has fully justified the lead characters, their personalities and flaws, bringing them to life without spoiling the investigation plot. I love Regin–her spunkiness and how she got her revenge. I love Brander–for being a better man because he is deaf. They are one perfect couple. You can actually feel their chemistry on both an emotional and physical level. The suspense will keep you on the edge. I have actually finished this book in one day and cannot wait to get the next in the series. For now, I am going to get the first book, which I have not yet read. A definite keeper!!
