Coffee Time Romance & More

Fellow readers help me welcome Paul Lonardo today. Let’s grab a comfy seat and dive right into our questions shall we? We’ll begin with your writing.

How did you decide to write romance; particularly erotica? Do you think you bring a different quality being a male?

For me, when it comes to inspiration, there’s no telling where that will come from. That can be a scary, worrisome thing, but it is always exciting. As a writer, it is never bad to try something new, and challenge yourself. It’s something to strive for. Writing romance and erotica certainly fits the bill in my case. But I was surprised how natural it was. But it all starts with developing characters, the rest finds its way into the context of the story.

It sounds like you took a leap of faith and it worked for you feeling a natural fit and your readers in being able to sample more of what lurks in your head.  What is your latest release?

ENCHANTED DESIRE is an erotic romance novella, release on June 17 by Wild Rose Press. It is my second romance in as many years, and the first erotic.

Although Erotica is not my preference. I like the plot and am sure your readers will love it. Are any of your characters based on someone you know in real life?

With the romance titles, we better not go there. However, many of my fictional characters, while not entirely based or inspired by real life people, there are always elements that are borrowed from friends, family and acquaintances. Sometimes a single character will contain elements from a number of different individuals I either know personally or am familiar with in some way.

I agree better to plead the fifth on that one. Lol But it always makes for interesting conversation. Did you ever expect your books to be so popular and receive such great reader response when you first started writing?

It’s a great feeling to know that people are reading your books, but when someone takes the time to give you a personal response, that is really special. And as a writer, who by occupation spend so much time alone working on their craft of creating interesting people and telling their stories, you can never get enough of that.

With every new book under your belt must increase that feeling as well. How about a few not so serious questions. Give us a peek into your world. If we asked your friends to name 3 personality traits about you what do you think they would say?

Self-disciplined, Passionate, Quirky (not in that order)

Great traits to have. I am jealous of self-disciplined; that is so not me. What is something about you that people would be surprised to know?

That I have written an erotic romance novella.

Again what a great leap of faith that proved successful. Do you have any Pet Peeves?

A million, including being asked what my pet peeves are. LOL

Yeah that is a very annoying question. Lol. We’ll let that one slide. What are some of your hobbies?

I’m a bit of a health and physical conditioning nut.

I love baseball, having played it through the age of 40 and now restarting all over again with my son in Little League.

I’m one of those people who go overboard decorating the house, inside and out, for Halloween, adding more and more creepy props every year to scare the neighborhood kids (and entertain the guests at my annual Halloween party).

Cool, interesting hobbies. Halloween seems to be catching up to Christmas in decorations. I love to look at others hard work rather than my own. I am limited in my imaginations sadly. How about some silly questions? If you were an ice cream flavor what one would you be and why?

I would be coffee ice cream, so I could stay awake and keep writing

Oh that's an awesome answer! Let's do a speed round:
Favorite color: Black
Favorite drink: Pinot Noir
Favorite movie: It’s a Wonderful Life
Favorite accessory:  A book
All great answers. As we wrap things up tell us What motto do you have that you say over and over when/if things get tough for you?
“This too shall pass”

So very true. Good motto to use. As our final question Where can readers find you?

My books and information about the titles can be found just about everywhere. I’ve spend a lot of time making sure libraries around the country know about my books, and a great many of them have brought copies in into their system. All the on-line retailers, of course, list my books. I have an author website and Facebook page. So the titles are everywhere, but the challenge of finding ways to get the attention of readers is still there. With so many books and authors to choose from, lots of them very good, you have to find every avenue to promote your book. Meeting and getting feedback from readers is what makes it all worthwhile.

Paul thank you so much for taking time to stop by and answer some questions for us. I wish you much luck and success in the future.
