THE VISCOUNT AND THE VIXEN
The Hellions of Havisham, Book 3
Mass Market Paperback
Rating: 4 Cups
Portia Gadstone is nothing if not resilient. The beautiful and intelligent daughter of an unbending clergyman, she learned survival at an early age.
Killian, Viscount Locksley, is one of the trio of noblemen known as the Hellions of Havisham. Reared by a father driven slightly mad by the death of his beloved wife, he is especially leery of falling in love.
Portia is desperate to escape her circumstances and answers the Marquess of Marsden’s advertisement for a wife. She travels to the edge of Dartmoor in search of safety and a future away from her life in London. The Marquess’s son Viscount Locksley is certain that the fire haired vixen is an adventuress looking to take advantage of a feeble old man. He marries her himself instead, swearing never to love her, and finds himself captivated by the many facets of his new bride.
This novel is full of intrigue and sensuality. Portia’s secrets find a parallel in the locked doors of Havisham Manor. With each opened door and renovated room, we learn a little more about each of the characters and the Marquess finds a little bit more of his sanity. Portia and Locke have an explosive and passionate sort of chemistry that kept me turning page after page until the very last page. I am definitely going to purchase the other two books in the series and look forward to the promised prequel.
