The Capitol K-9 Unit is Captain Gavin McCord’s family; especially his dog, Glory. Relationships are hard when you are called to duty any hour of the day or night, but with Glory at his side Gavin would not have it any other way.

Foster care can be an answer to a dream or a nightmare. Cassie Danvers dedicates her life to making dreams come true at All Our Kids. Being a house mother is a calling for Cassie, and she thanks God every day for the chance to help these children.

A murder next door to All Our Kids sends Cassie and her crew into chaos. The children in her care are her only concern, even her own safety is secondary to theirs. Gavin works around the clock to catch the killer, but nothing is more important than keeping Cassie and her kids safe. One of the boys in her home saw something and Cassie herself comes eye to eye with a killer, yet Gavin cannot force her or a child to his will when he knows it is God’s will they all follow.

The premise behind this story is dangerously exciting and tenderly sweet, Cassie; however, makes it anything but. She is so obstinate and irritable, she comes off as more of a belligerent five year old than some of the kids in her home. When she finally does sweeten up, it feels almost fake, and more of a result from pain-killers than true emotion. I really do like Gavin, however, because he is honest about who he is and what he feels from the very beginning.
