Erotic / Futuristic / Romantic Suspense

Adria Yuan is a bounty hunter, but not by choice; it is the only way she can make enough money to take care of her brother who needs almost constant medical care. It is an illegal job but she must do it if her brother is to survive. Just one more bounty, her current one and then she can get out of Basilica City for good, and get a “normal” job.
Rhys Carver is a good detective, he does things his own way, but he gets the job done. Like Adria he is hot on the trail of a computer hacker who is causing all kinds of mayhem for the city. He just wants to get his man and go home, unfortunately that is not what happens.
When Adria almost catches Sisyphus, the hacker she is after, she just misses the guy and winds up hanging from a broken railing and wondering if she can manage to drop the remaining distance to the ground without seriously injuring herself. Fortunately for her, Rhys finds her and helps her back up into the dilapidated apartment. Unfortunately, he recognizes her as as one of the illegal bounty hunters wanted by the city and manages to get the drop on her. Whether she likes it or not, he is taking her in. That is, until another car runs his car off the road and Adria saves his life when she could have left him to drown. It certainly would have solved most of her problems. However, instead Adria strikes a deal with the cop. It will not get her out of doing some time most likely, but it will ensure that her brother is properly cared for. And she will do anything for her brother, even do time. But they are not the only ones trying to shut down Sisyphus for good, and there is far more going on than either of them realizes. Couple that with their explosive sexual chemistry and they are both in over their heads. Can these two unlikely allies figure out what is really going on in time to save themselves, their growing feelings for each other, the city, and Adria’s brother?
Wow! What a roller coaster ride of a story! I absolutely LOVED Chasing Sisyphus! I am really hoping there will be more books in this series. Adria is an awesome kick-ass heroine, and I loved how she was willing to do anything to save her brother. Rhys made me laugh more than once as he tried to figure out how to deal with his attraction to a known criminal, but still keep his self-respect. The world building and Sci-fi scenarios are realistic and very imaginative. If you love your romance with some high speed suspense and great Sci-Fi worlds then you will not want to miss Chasing Sisyphus by Ms. Peridot!
