Stacy Smith is a successful author who leads a fairly full life and believes she has life all worked out. Then she meets a handsome man in an elevator only to discover he is a cowboy and cowboys are not to be trusted.
Davis McKenna is fascinated by the spicy writer and wishes to get to know her better. Except he runs up against her rule about cowboys; he must play the role of a friend to give him the opportunity to teach her that he is a better man that those she knew in the past.
When a crisis occurs, Stacy is forced to see the life of Davis McKenna and discover for herself that real cowboys have honor and treat the women in their lives with respect. Her feelings scare her enough that with the first chance she gets she cuts and runs only to find it is the biggest mistake of her life. Can she convince a cowboy to give her another chance or will she spend her life alone?
Debra Holt has done it again. I love, love, love the writing of Debra Holt. If you have not enjoyed one of her books then what are you waiting for? The Long Arm of the Lawman Series is an excellent start and Davis will convert any cowboy hater into a true fan of these sexy men who have honor, love of home and family, as well as the sexy looks to hook any woman he turns his eye to. I love how Stacy did not make it easy for her cowboy pursuer. The true magnificence of Ms. Holt’s writing is the touches she puts in her hometowns. The genius of Ned and Murphy from McKenna Springs must be experienced to be appreciated. I highly recommend Along Came a Ranger, the Long Arm of the Lawman Series, and anything written by Debra Holt.
