The Reluctant Vampire & Lynsay Sands

A few words about the Argeneau series:

Most people think of the Argeneau series as a vampire series, but to me it’s more about family. The fact that they are vampires is just an added little twist, like an accessory to an outfit. It makes them more interesting in some ways, allows for more plot twisting and such, but it’s really not the main focus of the stories. The main focus is how the characters interact and respond to each other, how they argue and tease and how they come together and support each other when trouble strikes…and trouble always strikes.

In The Reluctant Vampire, trouble comes in the form of one Stephanie McGill, an unwilling and newly turned teenager who is being hunted by her sire, a mad no-fanger named Leonius. The Argeneaus have taken her under their protection. They’ve sent her to live at Casey Cottage in Port Henry where Harper Stoyan is looking after things while Victor and Elvi Argeneau are on honeymoon. And two Rogue Hunters, Anders and Drina Argenis ( a Spanish cousin to the Argeneaus), are sent to replace Tiny and Mirabeau who delivered her safely there. Their job is to keep the girl safe. Simple right? It should be, but between attacks on the household and the precocious Stephanie deciding to take on the role of cupid and bring Drina and a reluctant Harper together…well, things are soon less than simple. You’d be amazed at how much trouble a newly turned teenage vamp can cause.

Now it is YOUR turn, do you have any questions for me?  I have a new copy of  The Reluctant Vampire for one of my commenters today!

I love reading all of your stories. How do you come up with them? do your characters talk to you? do they usually connect with something in your life or are they completely made up?

Jane, Tiny’s story was in the anthology Bitten by Cupid.

Reem, I find my inspiration from real people and every day life. Really. You’d be amazed at how many true events are in the stories. (Grin)

Jesz, the Notttes are now brought in and others may be in the future. I have no idea when the series will end though.

    Thank you Jedigirlsc!

Belinda, yes, the stinky cat scene was inspired by a real event. Fortunately, no one got sprayed. But only by sheer luck.

Thank you Xakara. I hope the writing is going well. Take care.

Jolene, there’s no planned outline for the series or for whose story comes next. Whichever character steps forward at writing time is who gets a story. As for whose stories are coming, the three written are Teddy’s (Coming in an anthology at the end of November.) Christian’s which is called Under a Vampire Moon and comes out in December, and JEanne Louise’s story which is untitled and I think comes out next spring. I’m writing another in a couple months but am not sure who it will be. One of Christian’s band members is at the top of the list. Bricker, however, will have to wait a while. Sorry, but I have more work for him before he gets his story.

Diane, I originally started out with four stories, Marguerite’s four kids Lissianna, Lucern, Thomas and Etienne. It just grew from there

Thank you Mary, that’s a lovely compliment.

Thank you May. Hope you continue to enjoy the stories.

Michelle, I came up with the twist from necessity. I’m kind of logical by nature. Cursed and soulless vamps running around just didn’t cut it for me, so I needed an alternate explanation for the vampirism. Some research led me to nanos. But I didn’t want them to be new and young either, because part of the attraction of vamps is that they are old and have seen and done a lot. So, I ended up with Atlantis and it’s reputedly being advanced technologically as the explanation.

Hope you all continue the stories.
    Thanks
    Lynsay
