I am so excited to be here and so honored that Tarah Scott invited me to be participating author this year. Tarah is a wonderfully talented historical romance author and I enjoy her stories very much.

For those who donâ€™t know me, I write erotic historical romance. I try to infuse my work with an equal measure of emotion, romance and erotic heat. My stories most often feature flawed characters and lots of angst, emotion and drama. I love to write stories about wallflowers and wildflowers, heroines who do not always fit in with the times they were born into. For me, the character tells the story and their internal conflicts drive the story. Some of my stories feature elements of light BDSM and some are scorching hot vanilla. Again, it depends on the characters.

One of the things I love about the December holiday season is the chance to make new memories with the people who are the closest to me. I love to decorate the house and to use scented candles to set the mood. And then I love to spoil people with decadent and delicious foods.

Music is an important part of the season for me. I love the old fashioned Christmas music that my parents would listen to. And I love the classical Christmas music and also Mannheim Steamroller. I love to use lots of tinsel and lights and jewel tones and gold and silver, glittery, shiny things. I have a thing for anything themed around musical instruments and birds too. Of course anything historical related to Christmas I love too. Decorating the house and making it festive and special means so much more because my husband loves for me to decorate the house and he likes to see what I will do differently each year. I love to use lots of spices and vanilla in cooking or burn some candles and have the house smell like Christmas.

I love all sorts of holiday themed sweets and especially pumpkin pie. Peppermint or eggnog ice cream. I like to invite my best friend over and play Christmas music and share some decadent Christmas treats. I like to find all sorts of new Christmas types of candies, cookies, cakes and coffee creamers and things like this to surprise my husband with. Well, Christmas to me all about creating and sharing lovely experiences with the people closest to me. It is all about sharing the joy of the season and creating happy times.

It is important to me to try and focus on the little things in the present moment. The ways that we can be kind to each other and spoil each other a little bit. To give each other permission to escape the seriousness of everyday life. So many of the people I have been closest to in my life have carried not so wonderful memories of Christmases past with them into their adult lives. I have seen how hard they fight to move beyond such memories and yet they find themselves haunted by them all the same. This is a reason why I tend to focus on creating an atmosphere for escapism, a space to be child-like for a time. Thatâ€™s what Christmas means the most to me. A chance to celebrate and to try and create small moments of joy with the ones I love the most. Some of the quietest holidays have been the happiest for me.
