Inspiration. A mysterious creature which hides in the deepest shadows of our mind, coming out only when it pleases.
How do we find it?
Everywhere and anywhere. Every little detail in the world around us can be a source of inspiration. The drooping leaves of an un-watered plant; the conversation you overhear in the subway; the crazy weekend story of your co-worker; your trip to that tiny little town in the middle of nowhere.
Though inspiration can be found at any time and place, sometimes it can be difficult to seize.
In my case, I have found there are two ways in which inspiration or my Muse, as I call it, starts speaking.
One of these is through music. Whenever I stop listening to music, my muse runs off on an extended holiday.
Second, walking. I’m fortunate enough to live in the Spanish countryside, so whenever I have the chance (and having a dog helps), I go out for a long walk and get lost in the path, giving my mind free access to imagine, plot, and build.
What do you do when you need inspiration?
