I Need Asian Heroes
Hello everyone I’m Keshia!
After finishing Just As Good a Christmas novella, I’ve been wanting to finish my plot bunnies with Asian heroes. I hardly see them in romance books but for my Asian drama and movie fans, listing our favorite actors is an endless hobby.
With my first post and the start of NaNoWriMo where I am writing a story with my hero as a Korean immigrant to Canada, I want to talk about seeing more Asian heroes. With a lot of diverse cultures and men there are so many heroes who are waiting to be penned especially by erotica writers. An example of underuse of an Asian hero in a Hollywood movie would have to be Ninja Assassin. After getting Rain/Bi a singer and actor famous in Korea and around the world with a body that is built to be in romance books there was no love scene…?!
I pledge on my honor as an author to have a love scene in that NaNoWriMo project and in every one of my books (which is not that hard to do since I write erotic contemporary for the most part). Since my hero inspiration Rain will not be out of Korean military service until July '13, I will be writing a lot to anticipate his return.
Hi Keisha! I definitely agree with you. I need Asian Heroes and I believe that there needs to be more Asian Heroes in mainstream romance/erotica. Like you stated, there are a lot of diverse cultures and men, heroes who are just waiting to be penned especially by erotica writers. Myself, as a reader, would love to see this.
P.S. I am a fan of Rain/Bi & do watch some K-drama on occasions too.
I'm with you! I really notice it in m/m, too, where a lot of the guys seem to be nearly interchangeable pretty white boys (though there are some exceptions). I'm off to click on that Rain link, too…
