Best Friends
This is my first novel (published in 2001) and I still hear from readers about it. It’s the story of two young women who meet in college in the 70′s. One is a middle-class woman from the Ohio (Clare), the other a wealthy girl from LA (Sally). The two become best friends, and the book follows them through twenty-odd years in their complicated lives. They are still best friends in the end, although they have been through all sorts of traumas and their relationship has been tested, threatened, and almost destroyed by Sid, Sally’s father.
This book is dedicated to my own best friend, Jill Herman, who I met in college.
