A loud banging on the door forced Adela to push off Phillip’s heavy arms from across her chest. She leaned over his peaceful sleeping features and smiled at the innocent boyish look upon his face. The door rattled again, this time more aggressively. Frowning, she shook Phillip.
“Wake up. There is someone at the door.”
But he remained asleep. She tried shaking him again, but he did not budge.
“Phillip …”
The door slammed open and three fearsome soldiers filed into the chamber. She screamed and shoved at Phillip’s limp body once more.
“Die witch!” the soldiers snarled, then pounced on the bed and plunged each of their swords into her chest.

Adela jolted awake in terror. Breathing heavily, she looked over at Phillip sleeping soundly beside her. She pushed away the matted hair on her face and swept her feet to the side of the bed.
“What purpose did that dream serve?” she asked in a chocked voice, her gaze drifting to the sunrise outside the large window.
Adela released a long audible sigh and pushed to her sluggish feet. The cold stones against the soles of her feet chilled her naked body as she lightly padded over to the wash stand. Pouring water into a basin, she splashed the cool liquid onto her face.
A bang at the door echoed through the chamber. Adela jumped, a gasp escaping her lips. Her nervous gaze jerked to Phillip sleeping soundly in bed and back to the door.
“My laird,” a male voice called through the oak. “An unusual guest waits below.” He knocked again. “Are you awake?”
Adela went to the door.
“Do not answer it,” Phillip whispered tersely.
Adela hesitated, blinking with confusion.
He struggled out of bed and pulled on a pair of breeches. Opening the door to a sliver, he leaned against the doorway. Adela heard his steward say Lady Torella sat impatiently in the Great Hall.
After Phillip closed the door tightly behind him, Adela asked, “Why did you not want your man to see me?”
“I wish not to tarnish your reputation,” he offered and lifted the lid of a timber chest at the end of the bed. “Looks like your spell worked in summoning Lady Torella.”
“You wish not to tarnish your reputation,” Adela hissed, ignoring his change of subject.
Phillip shrugged into a white tunic and rubbed his cheek as he faced her. “I did not want to share you just yet,” he replied softly. He placed his hands on both sides of her face and lightly kissed her lips.
She grimaced and leaned away. “Have you forgotten who I am? I can sense you are not telling the whole truth.”
He ran his hand distractedly through his hair. “My people are going to have a hard time accepting their enemy as their mistress, even if it does mean peace. I did not want to confuse them with you being in my bed.”
“You mean you did not want them to know their laird is bedding a filthy witch!”
“Adela!”
“Forget it.”
She scoped up her clothes and threw them on the bed. “I do not need your charity.”
“You cannot walk outside naked,” Phillip said and picked up the gown. “Get dressed and go to your chamber. I will be there shortly and we can talk about this.”
Adela glanced away, her arms crossed. She was not going to wait as a dog waits for his master.
“Please, Adela. Do not leave without talking to me.”
She gazed up at his face and felt his inner torment. His eyes pleaded for her understanding.
“Very well.” Adela snatched the gown from his hands. “Go tend to your new bride.”
He gave a curt nod, and then reached into the pocket of her gown and pulled out the love potion. Pivoting on his heel, he left.
She flopped onto the bed with a deep sigh. What was she doing here? Was she prepared to be just another woman in the laird’s bed? To be forever hiding from his people? She sat upright, her stomach knotting with emotional pain. She had been running and hiding from people all her life. Afraid they would see who she was, afraid their fear of witches would kill her like her mother.
Clenching her teeth, she seethed with fury. She was not going to hide and she was not going to wait.
Shrugging into her gown and slippers, she slammed open the door and ran down the spiral stairway.

I wasn’t sure if you wanted sex scenes on the blog. I wouldn’t want to shock your readers as it can get really graphic.

I love writing sequels. It seems to come naturally to me, which somewhat shocks me. For instance, I would put in a small detail about a character in the first book to help build the character’s background, and then in the second book, I can develop that small bit of information into a whole story on why that character does what he/she does.

So my creative muse is working for me when I don’t even realize it at the time of writing. Does that make sense?

I have written an Amazon Series, but is currently sitting in my computer folder. I will need to go back and work on them before submitting. For the time being, my heart is with my Celtic Series and the witches, so I am focusing all my time on them. I do write full time and I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to do so. My husband supports me while I follow my dream. He is truly my real life hero.

It is easy for me to find the time to write. I wake up in the morning and make a cup of tea and then sit down at my computer to write. I must confess that emails can be a huge distraction, but once I have got them out of the way. I’m ready to work. I open my latest work-in-progress on the computer, I feel a sense of peace come over me. And when I put my fingers on the keyboard a tingling sensation wraps itself around my body. I am about to fall into another world of knights, ladies, witches, sorcerers, love, sex, betrayal, death, life … with all the smells, sounds and tastes of the medieval ages. I could not imagine doing anything else with my time. Writing is my life, my passion.

Stories come to me via my dreams for the most part. Or if I lay down on the bed, I can clearly see where my characters wish to take me. They tell me what to write and I don’t usually deviate from their story. A lot of writers say their characters talk to them. I am one of those authors.

Do I have many ideas for the future? I have millions of ideas. LOL. I have so many, I need to write them down and put them in a folder. I have always had many stories swirling in my head, even as a child. Sometimes I won’t go to sleep unless I can finish a story in my head. This leads to many nights lying in bed annoyed with myself, but unable to rest until I figured out how the boy gets the unattainable girl in the end.

I don’t have people recognizing me in the street yet, but my name is being widely spread throughout the industry as a writer with great sex scenes. Friends would come up to me and say that they met someone who knew of me and was impressed with my writing. Now may I mention, my book is not even out yet. It is in pre-order stages. So for my writing reputation to fly around as fast as it has is just mind boggling.

Plus, I have had great reviews. One of which is from the Coffee Time Romance. It will be posted in a couple of weeks when my book is released October 1, 2007.

I love getting reviews on my book. It is such a high moment for me and a validation as a writer. They say writers are a narcissistic bunch, and I agree. We have to be to presevere in an industry where you are rejected more times than you can count. So when a reviewer says they love your book and couldn’t put it down, then you tend to want to jump for joy and cry at the same time. LOL

Anita, a reviewer for Romance Junkies wrote:

Blue Ribbon Rating 4.5

In order to pass on her power, Adela MacAye, the last Celtic witch, must have a child. After a vision of her death, she casts a fertility spell to lead her to a man that will be able to father her child. The spell leads her to the handsome Laird Phillip Roberts, who she easily fall in love with, but to her sorrow, is betrothed to wed another.

Phillip falls in love with Adela, and would give anything if only they could be together. To save his clan and end a feud, he must wed another. Phillip does not know that his betrothed is an evil sorceress, who has plans to take over his clan and steal the powers of the last Celtic witch.

A magical and sexy medieval fantasy, THE LAST CELTIC WITCH by Lyn Armstrong tells a fascinating story of good versus evil. Strong characters drew me into an imaginative tale filled with rich emotions and exciting action. This is the story of Adela, the last Celtic witch, who after seeing a vision of her death, decides she needs to have a child to pass on her powers. Her story tells of how she comes to meet and fall in love with Laird Phillip Roberts, who at the time is betrothed unknowingly to an evil sorceress. In order to save the world from darkness, they must discover the truth about Phillip’s betrothed before she can steal the power of…THE LAST CELTIC WITCH.

Adela is a wonderful character and quite passionate by nature. Her history is sad and her fears are justified. She is a character that is willing to do what is best for others, even if it means sacrificing her own happiness. I could only hope for a happy ending for Phillip and Adela.

Phillip is a brave warrior that will do whatever it takes to keep his people safe. This is how he comes to set aside Adela and prepare to marry another. The chemistry between Phillip and Adela is electrifying, and whenever they come together, there is always a heated explosion of passion. Phillip is definitely an alpha male, who knows how to take charge in the bedroom.

The manipulation and intrigues found throughout the story kept me reading to see how things would turn out in the end. I found myself happily caught up in the exciting action of the story. This is a mesmerizing tale in which dark magic uses intrigue and manipulation to succeed in the battle between good versus evil. Their only hope is that the power of love will give courage and strengthen the power of one small woman …THE LAST CELTIC WITCH.

This was my first review and I was so pleased with it. For your fan and husband, I’ll post another excerpt in a couple of minutes. ;0)

The Celtic Witch and the Sorcerer

Gavenia lay down on her soft bed, her body was exhausted, but her mind was alert with

excitement. She must force herself to sleep while she can. At midnight, she would escape Gleich Castle and

ride through the night to freedom.

Slowly, very slowly, her eyelids lowered and she drifted into sleep.

“I have been waiting for you to slumber,” his rich voice held a note of tenderness.

Gavenia sat up on the bed, her sleeping gown had changed from white to black, its delicagee dipped low to expose inner curve of her breasts. She looked up at the handsome stranger standing over her bed. It was the same mysterious man of her dreams. Just the nearness of him made her body tingle with desire. His hair was as black as midnight and it fell in soft waves to his shoulders. His bare torso gleamed from the glow of the fireplace while black chausses hung low on his hips. Dark eyes captured her gaze and held it as if she was in a trance. She feared him, but was attracted to him at the same time.

She trembled from the force of her body’s cravings for this man. She had never felt this way before and it frightened her. This was only a dream, right? So why should she worry? Why resist her yearnings for this figment of her imagination? After all, she could not become pregnant from a dream.

The alluring man smiled and lay down beside her. Gathering her into his arms, he molded her curves readily into his own contours and murmured, “Everything will be all right.”

Gavenia studied every inch of his face while the hardness of his warm body gave her comfort. His face was so beautiful and noble with an aristocrat nose and eyebrows. His strong jaw line was clean shaven while his lips … oh sweet Goddess, his lips were full and soft. They smiled at her as if he knew everything she was thinking.

“I do not usually like to kiss, but I find myself eager to explore your mouth,” his voice was low, sensual.

Gavenia’s heart flipped in response. He could ask anything from her, and she would agree. All her barriers toward men fell, and when his appreciative gaze roamed over her, she felt so feminine and desirable.

He was meant to be her lover, and she, his.

Holding her hand to his chest, he gradually lowered his head and claimed her mouth. Soft and tender at first, tentatively exploring the insides of her mouth, then he deepened the kiss as her ardor grew. Their tongues made love with a savage hunger, each desiring to be closer and closer, merging their bodies, but he was still too far away. She needed him inside her, to complete her. She needed more of him.

I wasn’t sure where to start and end with the excerpt. The scene below is about the first time the hero and heroine meet, capturing their attraction for each other.

Happy reading.

Lyn

Once within hailing distance, Phillip halted his horse and called, “My fair mistress, this is no place…”
Her cloak fell to her shoulders, allowing him a glimpse of silky brown hair falling in gentle waves down her back. She stopped dancing and became deathly still as if she had turned into a statue. His eyes traveled down her backside to two bare ankles peeking from beneath an unadorned green dress. She glanced over her shoulder and giggled, then darted away like a deer.
Phillip rode closer, his mount dodging trees and fallen logs as he chased after the woman, following brief glimpses of her gown. How could she continue to out-maneuver his agile warhorse?
Halting his mount in an open meadow, Phillip scanned the area for the mysterious lass, but she was nowhere in sight. A soft singing voice floated on the breeze. He jerked his head around to follow the sound coming from a small pond that was barely hidden by tall grass on the edge of the shadowed forest.
Dismounting, he led his horse closer to the pond. Sounds of splashing mingled with the clop of his horse’s hooves. Phillip cleared his throat loudly, alerting the lass to his presence.
He called, “I wish not to frighten you, but ’tis not safe in these woods for you to be unescorted.”
Phillip resisted the urge to peek through the green cover to see if the lass swam naked. He heard a swishing movement in the water and then a rustling of grass. He stepped back, eager to finally see the face of the mysterious woman.
Her lilting voice echoed through the swaying, green wall, “But clearly … I am not alone.”
The grass parted and a woman of no more than twenty–five winters stepped into the clearing. Dripping, russet hair framed high cheekbones and an adorably upturned nose sprinkled with freckles. Her gold-flecked eyes spoke of innocence, yet also glistened with tentative seduction, as if the lass were eager to explore pleasures not yet known to her.
Phillip’s gaze was drawn to the emerald gown plastered to her wet skin and the outline of her pert breasts, their erect peaks pressed tightly against the damp material.
Immediately his manhood stirred beneath his kilt, his heart rate increasing. She had the appearance of an enchanting nymph.
“Do you like what you see?” she asked, her face flushing deeply.
“I … well …” Phillip stuttered, torn between devouring the maiden with his eyes and averting his lust-filled stare as any honorable knight should do.
Finally he turned his back on the tempting nymph and ran his hand distractedly through his wavy hair. “This is no place for you to linger, Mistress …”
“My name is Adela of the Mac Aye clan.” She sighed with frustration. By Jupiter! Why did she have to pick a respectable male to father her child? And one so incredibly handsome that he made her feel more homely than ever.
Biting her lip, she stepped closer to his form, a study in languid power. Masculine smells of wood and horse floated from his lustrous hair, which skimmed the wide set of his shoulders. It was a stark contrast to his dirty and bloody kilt. He was obviously one of the soldiers who had battled on the field yonder.
Strange that the blood stains did not repulse her, but merely increased her attraction to the imposing figure. Her gaze dropped to the strong hands clenched at his sides. She imagined him wielding a deadly, heavy claymore, his full lips firm with determination. A ripple of pleasure swept over her skin.
Could those same hands caress my body with gentleness?
Adela touched his shoulder and he pivoted, knocking her backward. He reached out to catch her before she fell and held her in his arms. Good lord, he was the most attractive man she had ever seen. Even with an angular jaw, high arched eyebrows and a wicked scar across his cheek, he was as beautiful as an angel sent from heaven, and looked as if he would be more at home in a church than with a sword in his hands.
And his eyes!
The soldier’s gaze reached out to Adela, affirming his desire for her, and something else … a vague loneliness?
Using her powers, she created a voice inside his head and spoke to him, “Make love to me. I am willing.”

The legendary sex scene is to follow, but you’ll have to buy the book to read it. LOL

Lyn

xoxo

The title above is part of a poster I have on my office wall. And I couldn’t agree more. I am currently writing the second book in the Celtic Series, THE CELTIC WITCH AND THE SORCERER. Although, I like to have my hero’s flawed in some way, Laird Tremayne Campbell is a sexy sorcerer, a real anti-hero. He is the epitome of a bad boy.

So why do we love bad boys? Is it that we are attracted to the forbidden? Mother told us to stay away from boys like that, so we naturally gravitate to them. Or are bad boys exciting? You can’t see a bad boy sitting on his bum watching TV all day long. No, they are out there have fun adventures and getting into all sorts of trouble.

With so much wickedness inside, they must be wild in bed. Or perhaps it is a woman’s nature to want to save a lost soul. To bring love to the ultimately wounded and have them love in return.

Maybe it is all the above that makes women swoon over these naughty alph-males. I know I am hooked. Now that I have written Laird Tremayne’s sensual exploits, I am in lust!

Bring it on bad boy!

Thank you, Bonnie for having me. I am very excited to blog about my first historical erotic romance. I must warn the readers that my book has a high heat rating. So I will be talking a lot about sex. ;0)

THE LAST CELTIC WITCH is the first book in the Celtic series. There will be four books in total. The series follows the life of a Celtic witch who is the last of her generation and a highland chieftain who must resist his love for her or have his clan slaughtered by an evil sorceress.

I loved writing this historical because it was the first time I allowed myself to break the rules when it comes to sex scenes. I figured I would write what comes naturally to me and be organic with my character’s desires. This allowed them to take over the page with whatever passions come to mind, whether it be taboo in society or not. And it seemed to work. I have had so many comments about my scenes and how hot they are that I had to warn my critique partners about them. One of my friends read a scene in front of me at a restaurant and her face went completely white. LOL. It was so funny. She wasn’t expecting it to be so graphic.

My reputation has proceded me in many circles that I have complete strangers telling me they heard about my erotic tales and are dying to read them. LOL. And this is before my book is even released.

Helen Rosburg from Medallion Press has read THE LAST CELTIC WITCH. She was on an editor/author’s panel recently and told the room full of people that my book was the first erotic she read and enjoyed. She stated, “After reading Lyn Armstrong’s, THE LAST CELTIC WITCH, I finally get why people love erotic romance.” I was so pleased she gave me such a wonderful compliment. I swear I was smiling all day long.

My editor, Jessica Berry at Resplendence Publishing says my book is not the usual erotic romance where people have sex just for the sake of it. All my hot scenes are character based and move the story forward. There is a reason for every sexual encounter.

By doing this, I have converted many romance readers to my erotic genre.

Heather Graham, NY Times bestselling author quoted, “As charming and magical as Celtic legend itself, a truly enjoyable read and wonderful debut!”

I am so proud of this book and being that it is my first one published, makes everyone’s compliments even sweeter. Okay, no more Sally Field’s moments…”You love me, you really love me”

Thanks again to Coffee Time Romance and Bonnie for allowing me to blog about my first baby.

I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Lyn

xoxo
