A Seal at Heart by Anne Elizabeth

Hi everyone! So happy to be here!

Was being a Navy wife and spouse to a member of The Teams the reason that you wrote A Seal at Heart?

I wrote A SEAL AT HEART to honor my husband, the SEALS, and our Community. Some might call it a labor of love to write these fictional romantic journeys, but for me it was an experience into the complicated and complex layers of SEAL life. We often see the external side of these mighty warriors, hearing of their exploits and learning about the aspects of their pitfalls and successes, but behind most of these men are wives, children, sisters, brothers, fathers, mothers, aunts, and uncles, nieces, and nephews… Oftentimes, these family members are the ballasts of the warriors lives. This is reason they go out there and fight so hard, and intend to return. None of us goes through life alone. Always, it is a Team effort. When I was asked to write the trilogy of books for Sourcebooks, I set out to share the personal side and inner journey of my SEAL hero and extraordinary heroine. There’s romance. There’s loss. And, there’s a blending of hearts, life, and love. My greatest wish is that it brings joy, understanding, and is a celebration of romance and SEAL life. HOOYAH!

What was one of the most interesting things you found out during your research for this book?

I learned that every SEAL has a story. Very few are similar and yet, there is this steely strength that runs through SEALS that I admire. I am very protective of their individual stories and worked very hard to craft a fictional romance that would be in-line with a SEAL life, while making sure that I did not take away from a warrior’s personal journey. I saw the ravages of combat in injuries—both mental and physical—and I cry and mourn those who are buried. My husband and I continue to reach out to members of the community, and we never let anyone be forgotten. Instead, we incorporate what we can into daily life, celebrations, and reunions. A toast is always raised to our fallen, to our operational and retired friends, and those who will continue the fight. What touches me and continues to influence me is that we are all still together, facing the trials ahead, and there is nothing like knowing that someone special has your six.

Wonderful post! I first want to say thank you to your husband for serving and protecting us all and thank you to you also for supporting him. I don't think our military gets enough recognition. I have a friend who was married to a military man and saw how difficult it could be. I have many famliy members who have served and some conitinue to serve. I love reading about heroes, especially if they military ones. ;)
I am lucky as I have several special someones in my life. Today, I will highlight my little brother. He was in the army and I could not be more proud of him. He is the type of person who will help anyone in need and give someone the shirt off of his back if they needed it. He speaks his mind and is not afraid to stand up for what he believes in.
    Thank you for sharing, Anne!

I want to take a minute and thank your husband for all he and every other enlisted man/woman has done for us to make this a better/safer place to live.  It takes courage beyone belief to stand up and do what they do for us everyday.  And to you spouses and the children who make the sacrifice of being away from your spouce/father also.  I can't wait to read this book!
