Jenna was happily married with a wonderful little girl when her life changed. She is fortunate in her family and has found love again.
Megan is a little girl with a lot of problems. Doctors and psychologists cannot diagnose her behavioral and developmental problems. She is loved very much by her mother and stepfather, even though they do not understand her.
After the car crash that destroyed her family, Jenna found solace in alcohol. She was newly pregnant at the time and did not get control of her problem until well into the pregnancy. When little Megan is born, everyone is thrilled, but she did not develop in the same way as the daughter Jenna lost. Her behavior and slow development worry everyone. The situation causes strain in all parts of the family.
Wounded Spirits is a well written and heart-wrenching story. Jenna and her new husband have a child with some very serious issues. Her destructive and self-destructive behavior is not diagnosed until it is almost too late. The book can be difficult to read at times and is definitely not a story for light entertainment.
