Raven Montgomerie is an artist and the quietest of the seven sisters. After a disastrous marriage, she has pretty much hidden herself from the world and her very forceful family much of the time.
Trevelyn Mershan and his two brothers are driven by revenge. They want to avenge their father and mother. The source of their troubles was Sean Montgomerie, who swindled their father out of everything, which lead to their father’s suicide and their mother’s mental breakdown.
Raven has received a beautifully restored mechanical fortune teller from her sister. The mechanical gypsy has warned her to beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing. No one is more wolfish than the man calling himself Trevelyn Sinclair, but she is drawn to him like a magnet. The wolf has found his mate, but the past, both his and hers, will cause lots of heartache before anything is resolved.
The seven Montgomerie sisters and their brothers are interesting enough to keep me reading as long as the author wants to write about them. Raven is a sensitive artist, and I loved her little menagerie. In a way Trev is also another one of her strays needing a home. The big bad wolf is not as bad as he would like to be, but Alec is worse. I really enjoyed the story, it is full of passion, mystery, and intrigue, with a little bit of the paranormal thrown in for good measure. Atticus the one legged seagull really steals the story.
