Mallory Byron has spent the last year mourning the loss of her fiancé, Major Michael Hargreaves. Corresponding with her dear family friend, Adam, Earl of Gresham, has consoled her. She is determined to continue with her mourning until a scandalous situation changes her mind.
Adam, Earl of Gresham, was twenty-six years old when he realized he was in love with his best friend's sixteen year-old sister, Mallory. Having to deal with his family problems kept him away from her for as long as he could, but his feelings toward her have not changed.
A summer party beckons Adam back to the family he has called his own since his father betrayed him. He knows Mallory will not be in the mood to join the other guests, so Adam cajoles her out for a horseback ride and picnic in the early morning hours. Mallory’s comfort with Adam leads to an indiscretion that ends up with Adam getting everything he has desired. It may be more than he is ready to handle though, especially when a certain dead major arrives for a visit and to reclaim his fiancé.
This is one read that I am glad landed in my lap. Adam is a hero with flaws and that is something I appreciate. I cannot handle a hero who is too perfect. I was not sure Mallory would be one of my favorite characters when the story began, but by the end, I was admiring her mettle when dealing with Adam. Ms. Warren has gained a new fan with this book. While this is part of an ongoing series, Wicked Delights of a Bridal Bed stands alone...and lives up to its title.
