Eros has been dreaming about a human girl for eighteen years but has never known if she was real or where to find her until his mother, Aphrodite, charges him with the death of the girl. Knowing she is his soul mate how can he not defy his mother’s wish?
Psyche lives in Greece and dreams of a man. When he finally appears, she knows he is meant to be hers. But his mother hates her and therefore her life is in danger.
Aphrodite is afraid to lose her son and only companion. Having never found her soul mate she fears being alone. Ares appeals to her for their son’s happiness but can she give him up and risk losing him or will she be lucky enough gain a daughter?
Whispers in the Dark is a sweet romance showing that even the gods are not always happy or that they get what they want. Eros and Psyche are destined to be together and as a reader, I would have been happier if the story concentrated more on their relationship. Aphrodite plays a large role in the story, it is nice to see her come around in the end and I would be interested to find out who her destined mate is.
