WAITING FOR THE MOON
Rating: 4 Cups
Alec Vadasz is cursed. He has borne the awful burden for three-hundred years. Finally, magic calls and he is given a chance at happiness.
Andrea Crawford is a reclusive artist who carries scars on her psyche from an abusive past that have never fully healed. Tucked away on her isolated acreage, she uses her talents crafting small guardians that surround her property.
Something unexpected and good has found sanctuary with Andy. She is determined to savor the gift she has been given and will fight unflinchingly to protect what she holds dear. Years ago, her precious cat, Tuttle, risked his life protecting her. Shortly afterwards, he disappeared. His escape gave Andy just the incentive she needed to plot and execute her own escape. Will a cursed man and a broken woman, whose only emotional outlet is the art she sculpts, be able to carve a piece of happiness for themselves or will the forces aligned against them tear their love asunder?
This is haunting story with a distinctly gothic flavor. I relished reading each new paragraph as the author kept building the story and finely tuning the tension; the impending sense of doom grabbed me and held me in its thrall. The connection between Alec and Andy felt so right and so real, I mourned for both that they had endured such deep sadness, remorse and affliction. This is a beautifully written dark romantic tale that will linger in your thoughts long after the last word is read.
