Docia Kent is a relatively new transplant in the small town of Konigsburg, Texas. She has opened a bookstore there. Just coming off a bad break up, she is not looking for love -- just a casual fling. That is, until she spots the new vet in town and now sees why all the women are finding reasons to take their animals to see the new doctor in town.
Cal Toleffson is one hunky vet. One look at him and all the women are drooling on their shoes. He pays no mind to it, after all he is just a country vet, and not some fancy doctor. Since he is new in town, he is of course scouting out for a special female, one that just makes you know. When he sees Docia, all rational thought is lost, he is bitten and knows there will be no other woman but her.
Cal and Docia slowly enter a relationship as cautiously as their minds and libidos allow. Both find ways to fit in their new community, which proves hard at times, especially when it seems someone would rather push Docia right out of town. Is this a mystery? Is this person close to Docia? What are the clear-cut answers they need to find?
What a fast funny and flirtatious story this is. Right from page one the entertainment begins, whether it is women drooling over a handsome vet or a poor Chihuahua cowering from a mean master. Ms. Benjamin has written a true romantic comedy. One that can easily be seen transferred to the screen.
