Connor Buchanan refuses to even think he is getting ready to go through a midlife crisis. He figures that although he is four hundred ninety-nine years old, Connor is just a cold-hearted vampire who has to watch all of his fellow vamps get all lovey dovey with their significant others.
Marielle Quadriduum has been an angel since the 4th day of God’s creations. After disobeying orders for the third time, Marielle suddenly finds herself stripped of her wings and left on Earth to fend for herself.
Connor takes one look at Marielle and he finds that although she is beautiful, what really pulls him toward the angel is her overall goodness. He cannot allow his dark soul to tarnish the essence that makes her who she is. But Marielle knows that Connor is not as evil as he thinks and that his past is eating him alive. Thinking she needs to help the good vamps in the war against the Malcontent, Marielle comes up with a solution which may allow her to get her wings back and go home to Heaven. But in doing so, she will have to give up the man she has fallen for?
Vampire Mine is like a decadent calorie-free dark chocolate morsel; sinful and satisfying and so good for you that you instantly feel better even as your body cries out for more. Ms. Sparks has a way of writing that sucks you right into the storyline, the lives of the characters, and the very heart of their battles. Not only were the emotional aspects of this novel brimming over, but the new experiences Marielle had with items such as tying shoes, eating ice cream, and feeling human desire made this book seem so realistic. While this is part of the Love at Stake Series, it can be read as a standalone. I hope we will get to see more outstanding work from Kerrelyn Sparks, not only with the vampires and shifters, but with some of the other angels mentioned throughout this book.
