Renee runs a smoothie/coffee cart in her stepmother’s magic store. Ironically, she is a witch and her stepmother does not believe in either her or magic. She is also a talented photographer, but lacks confidence in herself, though she is no pushover.
Galen is Renee’s mate, a lawyer, and an Alpha in the cat shifter jamboree. He is deeply in love with Renee and tries to protect her from all who would hurt her. He underestimates just how strong she is.
Jack is a werewolf and the Enforcer of the National Pack and the Alpha couple’s anchor. He is a powerful wolf who grew up in foster care for the most part and longs for a family of his own.
Renee is happy with her life and her business and is happily in love with Galen. She is accepted by most of his family, and feels nothing lacking. One day Jack walks up to he cart and she feels the attraction, but resists it, loyal to Galen. Jack knows he has found his mate and soon finds himself part of a triad with two mates, his own family at last. But someone is stalking Galen and Jack’s little witch, and it is up to them and their families to keep her safe.
I have always been a fan of the Cascadia Wolves series and this story combines this series with the beginning of a new one involving the cat shifters. Galen and his family are very alpha, but in a different way from the wolf packs she has written of before. The author does a good job of describing typical family tensions with a preternatural twist. The scene between Renee and Grace the Alpha bitch is a must read; I read it twice. Both pack and jamboree combine to give the reader a great story with hot shifter love scenes, suspense and danger. Renee’s past is still not fully resolved, and I look forward to reading more about the fiesty witch and her extended family.
