Jade del Cameron is a female photojournalist in a time when most women do not have careers of their own. She is a bit of a commitment-phobe and thrives on danger and adventure.
Sam Featherstone is in love with Jade. He is an aspiring movie maker and former World War I flying ace, handsome and every woman’s dream. He is very patient with Jade, understanding her adventurous spirit, but he cannot wait forever.
A movie company is shooting a safari and hires Jade to escort the actresses involved. It should be easy for someone like Jade, but the personalities involved and the murder of the film’s financial backer change the situation. The slopes of Kilimanjaro are always treacherous, but a murderer loose among Jade’s charges and their thirst to find a legendary treasure put them and Jade in jeopardy.
I always enjoy the books in this series and this one is no exception. Ms. Arruda writes stories in the classic mystery style, but with an exotic background that makes the tale fresh. Jade and Sam’s problematic romance is always in the background and the plot is intriguing and exciting. The characters are as colorful as the setting, particularly Harry, their leader. The faithful Jelani and Biscuit stow away as well and the story would not be the same without them. The cliffhanger ending will have fans eagerly awaiting the next installment of the series.
