Ida Sinclair knows what she wants in life and that is NOT to find a good man to settle down with. After finishing her business classes sooner than expected, thanks in part to a certain man’s ideals when it comes to women in the workforce, she heads to Cripple Creek, Colorado.
Traveling preacher Tucker Raines did not expect to come back to Cripple Creek. But when he gets a letter from his mother stating that his father is sick, he leaves his sister and heads home.
Colin Wagner is a lawyer who is used to getting what he wants. When he spots Ida on the train headed for Cripple Creek, he rescues her from an overzealous riding companion and sets his sights on claiming a spot in her heart.
When Ida gets to Cripple Creek, she is ready to become the businesswoman she has always dreamed of being. While she continues to pursue her job aspects, Colin continues to try and claim her heart. Meanwhile, Tucker has family issues and dramas of his own, but his heart wants to follow the same path as Colin’s. Will Ida become the businesswoman that she has always wanted to be, or will she find the man of her dreams in Cripple Creek?
Too Rich for a Bride is a wonderful novel full of inspiration, love, hope, and even some danger. Ms. Hodgson uses her written voice to describe the journey Ida takes as she searches for her goal in the working world and finds unexpected delights along the way. The family drama that Tucker deals with just adds to the emotional pull of this tale. As you read further in the story, you continue to watch the characters grow and form a bond even as some of them struggle to stay on the path they feel is right for them. This is a delightful book that you will savor each time you pick it up.
